About the Launch Pad Contest
Civic Ventures® created the Launch Pad contest to discover five inspiring people with ideas to improve their communities and provide each of them with $5,000, an invitation to the 2011 Encore Career Summit, and an opportunity for peer networking.
The Launch Pad is also the place for those looking to make a difference but unsure of how to get started.
Simply put, we’re here to build a movement to help people transition from previous jobs to encore careers with passion, purpose and a paycheck. In doing so, we hope to encourage many to take their first step toward one day winning a Purpose Prize®.
How Does the Launch Pad Contest Work?
Voting for the Launch Pad contest ended at 11:59pm EST on February 25 and the winners will be announced on March 2.
The contest happened in three phases.
Phase one, submissions: The submissions phase ran from November 15 through December 22. During this period, people from around the country submitted over 1,000 ideas to the Launch Pad website.
Phase two, you choose a finalist: This phase ran from January 10 through 18. Visitors to the site voted to send one of four people to the final round of the Launch Pad contest. The top vote-getter, James Robinson, advanced to join 24 other contestants, selected by our judges, in the final voting round.
Phase three, final voting round: From January 24 through February 25, visitors voted for one of the 25 finalists, as well as offered advice and support for the ideas.
Winners will be announced on March 3.
